There are two very different things inside Bohemian Highway (OCC Kush x Chemdog 91 Bx3). OCC Kush, an accidental Kush out of Occidental in west Sonoma. And Chemdog Bx3, the Chemdog Bx3 stud - Chem 91 pushed back into itself three times. These are Skunk VA's own crosses, made off stock he keeps himself.

91 identifies the OCC Kush x Chemdog used here. Numbered cuts come out of a population that was grown and sorted, and the number rides with the plant that was kept. Two crosses that both say OCC Kush x Chemdog are only the same cross if the number matches too.

Order matters in a cross name. In Bohemian Highway (OCC Kush x Chemdog 91 Bx3) the OCC Kush side supplied the seed and Chemdog Bx3 the pollen, and the reciprocal - the same two plants the other way round - is a separate breeding decision with its own results.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: OCC Kush. OCC Kush - a west Sonoma accident worth keeping. It is named for the back road it came off. Accidental in this context means a plant nobody set out to make and everybody kept.
• Father: Chemdog Bx3. Skunk VA's Chem 91 backcross, and the constant in this catalogue. That one comes from a backcross of Chemdog 91 - the cut Skunk VA has held since 1995 - worked back into itself three times. Backcrossing is what you do when you want more of one parent rather than a blend.
• What the cross is reaching for. One side brings the structure and the other brings the nose. The plants worth keeping out of a pack are the ones that hold both rather than picking a side.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

• The Aroma. Diesel and sour earth, concentrated rather than diluted by the backcrossing.
• The Taste. Greasy and mouth-coating, fuel then earth, sour at the finish.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The open, stretchy Chem frame, and it will need propping once the colas fill.
• Vegetative Phase and Stretch. Shape the plant before the flip. Correcting a frame in week six is harder work than setting it in week two.

Effects and Experience

• The Mind. Growers describe Chemdog Bx3 as alert and head-forward rather than sedating, as the Chem 91 line runs.
• The Body. Reported in line with that. This is not a plant described as pulling in two directions.
