There are two very different things inside Bottom Bitch (Irene x Purple Urkle). Irene Kush, also called Irene OG - a sour-scented hybrid out of the American Deep South. And Purple Urkle, a select phenotype of Mendocino Purps out of the Emerald Triangle around the turn of the 1990s. CSI breed off held clones rather than off seed stock, which is why the parents named on the pack are the actual plants and not their descendants.

Written this way, Irene Kush is the mother and Purple Urkle the pollen donor. Reversing a cross is not a formality; which plant carries the seed shapes what comes out of the pack.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Irene Kush. Irene OG - a sour-scented southern cut that growers keep for the nose rather than anything else. That one comes from traced to an unknown Emerald Triangle plant crossed to Hindu Kush, and widely taken to descend from California OG Kush. CSI recommend a nutrient-rich organic soil with good micronutrient content to bring the terpenes out; it is among the hardest clones they have reversed.
• Father: Purple Urkle. A Mendocino Purps selection pulled out of the Emerald Triangle around 1990. Dense purple flower in a closed canopy is where mould starts.
• What the cross is reaching for. One side brings the structure and the other brings the nose. The plants worth keeping out of a pack are the ones that hold both rather than picking a side.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

The two halves stack rather than blend, which is the whole reason to run it.

• The Aroma. Sour and sharp from the Irene Kush side, against grape and berry with a musky, skunky floor under it from the Purple Urkle side.
• The Taste. Sour over a kush base up front, turning to dark fruit up front, musk and earth behind it through the exhale.

How the two sides differ

• What to budget. The documented side, Purple Urkle, runs around eight weeks indoors, inside a seven to nine week window. Set the room to that and let the plants correct you.
• Where the nose comes from. One side gives sweet, earthy and floral with rich earth and pine, plus a distinct diesel note that most OG cuts do not have; the other gives sweet grape and dark berry over earthy skunk, myrcene-dominant. Plants landing in the middle are the keepers.
• Structure varies hard here. Resilient with a sturdy frame rather than delicate from one parent; compact and indica-built; deep purple colour hardest where night temperatures drop late from the other. Plan the canopy for the taller outcome.
• Opposite ends. Irene Kush is reported as the potent, focused end of the OG family; settling; Purple Urkle as settled and unhurried; the heavy, physical end. The cross sits somewhere between and moves plant to plant.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. Irene Kush is resilient with a sturdy frame rather than delicate. Purple Urkle is compact and indica-built; deep purple colour hardest where night temperatures drop late.

• Flowering Time. Purple Urkle runs around eight weeks indoors, inside a seven to nine week window. Start checking trichomes a week before you expect to be ready.
