Cali-O S1 is a self, not a cross. California Orange is a 1980s heirloom off 1970s California stock, inbred ever since, and CSI run the AE77 cut of it, and selfing it is the only route it has ever had into seed form. It carries ripe orange and mandarin over an earthy base - sweet, penetrating citrus. Every pack is the same plant asking itself what else it can be.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother and Father: California Orange, selfed. The AE77 cut of a California heirloom that has been inbred since the early eighties. Its own cross is a 50/50 hybrid crossed in the 1980s.
• Preservation, not novelty. A cut this old has no seed history - it has been passed hand to hand. A self is the only route to a packet, and the only way the line outlives the people currently holding it.
• Reading a pack of a self. There is no second parent introducing anything new. Selfing surfaces traits the clone carries quietly, so expect range rather than uniformity, and that spread is the point.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

• The Aroma. Ripe orange and mandarin over an earthy base - sweet, penetrating citrus.
• The Taste. Bright citrus zest with a sweet-earth finish.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. Compact and very resinous with a good flower-to-leaf ratio; resilient to common pests and disease; easy to grow and among the easiest plants there is to clone.
• Vegetative Phase and Stretch. Shape the plant before the flip. Correcting a frame in week six is harder work than setting it in week two.
• Flowering Time. California Orange runs around nine weeks. Start checking trichomes a week before you expect to be ready.
