Canasta (Papaya x Meat Breath) is Papaya crossed to Meat Breath. Papaya is the Nirvana tropical indica - fruit-forward and unusually pungent with it. Meat Breath is Meat Breath - the strain that made savoury a selling point. Between them they cover ground neither reaches alone. Thug Pug built a reputation on savoury and gas at a time when everyone else was selling dessert, and that choice is visible in the parents they pick.

Order matters in a cross name. In Canasta (Papaya x Meat Breath) the Papaya side supplied the seed and Meat Breath the pollen, and the reciprocal - the same two plants the other way round - is a separate breeding decision with its own results.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Papaya. The Nirvana tropical indica - fruit-forward and unusually pungent with it. Built from given as Citral #13 crossed to Ice #2. The citrus comes from the Citral side and the hash weight from Ice - the two halves are doing visibly different jobs.
• Father: Meat Breath. Thug Pug's savoury flagship. That one comes from given as Meatloaf crossed to the Mendo Breath F2 male, Studly Spewright. Mendo Breath behind it is OGKB crossed to Mendo Montage, so the mutant Cookies line runs right through this. The other parent, Meatloaf, is genuinely obscure - some accounts call it a Girl Scout Cookies phenotype with an unusual savoury nose, but that has never been confirmed and should not be stated as fact. Meat Breath and Thug Pug's other OGKB crosses started travelling in 2015.
• Why these two. They are not variations on the same idea. They pull in different directions, and that spread is what makes a pack worth hunting through rather than just growing.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

• The Aroma. Ripe papaya and mango over peppery spice and sweet fruit syrup, with an odd tobacco or whiskey note underneath from the Papaya side, against savoury and pungent - garlic and roasted notes against sharp chemical diesel, with earth, musk and a sweet vanilla-caramel undertone from the Mendo Breath side from the Meat Breath side.
• The Taste. Tropical fruit with the pepper following it up front, turning to earth, nut and spice with diesel behind it through the exhale.

• Timing. Papaya runs eight to nine weeks, and that is the half of this cross you can actually plan around.
• Two noses, one pack. Papaya contributes ripe papaya and mango over peppery spice and sweet fruit syrup, with an odd tobacco or whiskey note underneath. • Build. On the Papaya side: indica-dominant, usually put at seventy thirty, and easy to grow. On the Meat Breath side: dense purple-tinged flower under a wet, greasy frost. Select early rather than trying to train your way out of it.
• They pull differently. Growers put Papaya at heavy for a fruit plant, in the twenty to twenty-five percent range where it has been tested and Meat Breath at heavy; caryophyllene leads its terpene profile. Which end a plant lands on is the main variable.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. Papaya is indica-dominant, usually put at seventy thirty, and easy to grow. Meat Breath is dense purple-tinged flower under a wet, greasy frost.
• Vegetative Phase and Stretch. Shape the plant before the flip. Correcting a frame in week six is harder work than setting it in week two.
• Flowering Time. The parents are not on the same clock. Papaya runs eight to nine weeks, Meat Breath eight to nine weeks. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
