Chem 91 x Lemon tree brings Chem 91 together with Lemon Tree. The first is the SKVA cut, the original Chemdog '91 and the clone the whole Chem family is named after; the second, Lemon Skunk crossed to Sour Diesel, made in the early 2000s around Santa Cruz out of a large phenotype hunt. Two lines that were never going to produce a quiet plant. These are held cuts, not recreations. CSI's entire catalogue works that way, and it is the reason their crosses are worth chasing.

91 identifies the Chem used here. Numbered cuts come out of a population that was grown and sorted, and the number rides with the plant that was kept. Two crosses that both say Chem are only the same cross if the number matches too.

Order matters in a cross name. In Chem 91 x Lemon tree the Chem 91 side supplied the seed and Lemon Tree the pollen, and the reciprocal - the same two plants the other way round - is a separate breeding decision with its own results.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Chem 91. The SKVA cut - the original Chemdog '91 and the clone the family takes its name from. Given as one of thirteen seeds from a bag bought at a Grateful Dead show in 1991. Skunk VA was given a cut in 1995 and has held it since, which is why the line survives.
• Father: Lemon Tree. Lemon Skunk crossed to Sour Diesel, made in the early 2000s around Santa Cruz out of a large phenotype hunt. Given as Lemon Skunk x Sour Diesel.
• What the cross is reaching for. One side brings the structure and the other brings the nose. The plants worth keeping out of a pack are the ones that hold both rather than picking a side.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Two distinct smells, and a pack will give you both plus everything between.

• The Aroma. Pungent turned earth and diesel with pine and citrus sitting behind from the Chem 91 side, against sharp lemon and citrus over a fuel base from the Lemon Tree side.
• The Taste. Greasy and mouth-coating - fuel, then earth and pine, sour at the finish up front, turning to zesty and sour turning heavier and more diesel-driven through the exhale.

Where the parents disagree

• Two different harvest dates. Sixty-three to seventy days for Chem 91, eight to ten weeks for Lemon Tree. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
• Two noses, one pack. Chem 91 contributes pungent turned earth and diesel with pine and citrus behind it. Lemon Tree contributes sharp lemon and citrus over a fuel base. Which dominates is the main thing that varies.
• Build. On the Chem 91 side: loose and open rather than compact, moderate to heavy stretch, branches that soften under weight late. On the Lemon Tree side: medium height, around ninety to a hundred centimetres indoors. Select early rather than trying to train your way out of it.
• Opposite ends. Chem 91 is reported as alert and head-forward, sativa-leaning rather than heavy; Lemon Tree as bright and uplifting rather than heavy. The cross sits somewhere between and moves plant to plant.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. Chem 91 is open and loose rather than tight, stretching moderately to heavily, with branches that soften under weight late in flower. Lemon Tree is medium height, around ninety to a hundred centimetres indoors.
• Before the flip. Decide the shape now. These lines do not tidy themselves up once they are running.
• Flowering Time. The parents are not on the same clock. Chem 91 runs sixty-three to seventy days, Lemon Tree eight to ten weeks. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.

Effects and Experience

• The Mind. Growers describe Chem 91 as alert and head-forward, sativa-leaning rather than heavy.
• The Body. Lemon Tree is reported as bright and uplifting rather than heavy, and that is the side supplying the weight here.
