Chemdog D x F1 Durbs is Chem D crossed to F1 Durb. Chem D is the workhorse of the Chem family and the cut breeders reach for most. F1 Durb is the F1 Durb clone, preserved through Cookie Monster's cut and reversed by CSI in tiny numbers. Between them they cover ground neither reaches alone. These are held cuts, not recreations. CSI's entire catalogue works that way, and it is the reason their crosses are worth chasing.

Order matters in a cross name. In Chemdog D x F1 Durbs the Chem D side supplied the seed and F1 Durb the pollen, and the reciprocal - the same two plants the other way round - is a separate breeding decision with its own results.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Chem D. The Chem family's workhorse and the cut most breeders reach for first. That one comes from another phenotype from the same 1991 seed lot. It is the Chem half of Giesel, and one of the most widely used Chem cuts in American breeding.
• Father: F1 Durb. A clone-only Durban selection, and CSI's work with it came from Cookie Monster's cut. Built from a Durban line. CSI describe Cookie Monster's cut as reputedly one of the last keepers of the F1 Durb clone, and say the reversal produced very few seeds, which is why these releases are limited.
• What the cross is reaching for. One side brings the structure and the other brings the nose. The plants worth keeping out of a pack are the ones that hold both rather than picking a side.

• The Aroma. Chemical fuel over dark turned earth.
• The Taste. Fuel and earth, greasy and coating, finishing sour.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. Open and loose rather than compact, wants support once the colas load.
• Before the flip. Decide the shape now. These lines do not tidy themselves up once they are running.
