There are two very different things inside Dog Shit x Irene Kush. Dogshit, the Pacific Northwest cut also known as Electric Boogaloo, and for a while the best weed in Portland. And Irene Kush: Irene OG - a sour-scented southern cut that growers keep for the nose rather than anything else. These are held cuts, not recreations. CSI's entire catalogue works that way, and it is the reason their crosses are worth chasing.

Order matters in a cross name. In Dog Shit x Irene Kush the Dogshit side supplied the seed and Irene Kush the pollen, and the reciprocal - the same two plants the other way round - is a separate breeding decision with its own results.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Dogshit. The Pacific Northwest cut also known as Electric Boogaloo, and for a while the best weed in Portland. That one comes from contested - one account puts it in Minneapolis in the early 1990s as Electric Boogaloo before it moved west and was renamed; a persistent rumour gives it as an old Colombian and Afghani hybrid. It rose in Oregon and Washington after 1998 and is still passed as a clone; CSI's The Good Shit is Dogshit over Chemdog 91.
• Father: Irene Kush. Also called Irene OG, a sour-scented hybrid out of the American Deep South kept almost entirely for its terpenes. It traces back to traced to an unknown Emerald Triangle plant crossed to Hindu Kush, and widely taken to descend from California OG Kush. CSI recommend a nutrient-rich organic soil with good micronutrient content to bring the terpenes out; it is among the hardest clones they have reversed.
• The point of the pairing. Neither parent needed rescuing. Putting them together is about what sits between them, not about fixing either one.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Expect the profile to move plant to plant rather than settle.

• The Aroma. The electric haze character the name is known for from the Dogshit side, against sour and sharp from the Irene Kush side.
• The Taste. Sativa-forward and sharp up front, turning to sour over a kush base through the exhale.

The two halves, side by side

• Two noses, one pack. Dogshit contributes the electric haze character the name is known for. Irene Kush contributes sweet, earthy and floral with rich earth and pine, plus a distinct diesel note that most OG cuts do not have. Which dominates is the main thing that varies.
• Build. On the Dogshit side: mostly sativa. On the Irene Kush side: resilient with a sturdy frame rather than delicate. Select early rather than trying to train your way out of it.
• They pull differently. Growers put Dogshit at sativa-leaning and Irene Kush at the potent, focused end of the OG family; settling. Which end a plant lands on is the main variable.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. Dogshit is mostly sativa. Irene Kush is kept for terpenes rather than for yield.
• Vegetative Phase. Top or train before you flip rather than chasing the canopy afterwards.

Effects and Experience

• The Mind. Growers describe Dogshit as sativa-leaning.
• The Body. Irene Kush is reported as the potent, focused end of the OG family; settling, and that is the side supplying the weight here.
