Forbidden Fruit x Obama Kush is Forbidden Fruit crossed to Obama Kush. Forbidden Fruit is Cherry Pie crossed to Tangie - dark cherry against bright citrus. Obama Kush is Red Beard's award-winning 2007 selection out of CSI's own Mendocino Purple Kush. Between them they cover ground neither reaches alone. Both parents here are cuts CSI keep in their own room. That is the whole difference between this and a seed line named after the same strains.

Forbidden Fruit sits on the seed side here, Obama Kush on the pollen side. If you have seen these two names paired the other way round, that is a different pack and not this one.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Forbidden Fruit. The Cherry Pie and Tangie cross that is all about the fruit. It traces back to Cherry Pie x Tangie. Rated an easy grow that does not need constant attention.
• Father: Obama Kush. Red Beard's award-winning 2007 selection out of CSI's own Mendocino Purple Kush. It traces back to a selection of Mendocino Purple Kush, which is Mendocino Purple x Bubba Kush, made by CSI in 2006. Red Beard pulled two keepers from that seed - Obama Kush and George W. Kush; the Obama cut spread through the Pacific Northwest and stayed there.
• How to read it. Everything below splits into what one parent gives and what the other does. Plants that take from both are the ones to keep.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Two distinct smells, and a pack will give you both plus everything between.

• The Aroma. Dark cherry and bright orange citrus from the Forbidden Fruit side, against coffee and cocoa hash from the Bubba side with grape from the Mendocino Purple from the Obama Kush side.
• The Taste. Cherry and passionfruit with citrus over the top up front, turning to spiced earth and dark roast through the exhale.

What each side brings

• Timing splits the pack. One parent wants nine to ten weeks indoors, the other eight to ten weeks. Expect the fast plants down well before the slow ones are ready.
• Where the nose comes from. One side gives dark cherry and bright orange citrus; the other gives coffee and cocoa hash from the Bubba side with grape from the Mendocino Purple. Plants landing in the middle are the keepers.
• Opposite ends. Forbidden Fruit is reported as indica-leaning and settling; Obama Kush as settling. The cross sits somewhere between and moves plant to plant.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. Compact, with the colour and density of its Cherry Pie side.
• Vegetative Phase. Top or train before you flip rather than chasing the canopy afterwards.
• Flowering Time. The parents are not on the same clock. Forbidden Fruit runs nine to ten weeks indoors, Obama Kush eight to ten weeks. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
