Granddaddy Purple is the other California purple benchmark. Between them they cover ground neither reaches alone. Every parent CSI use is a cut they keep alive themselves, so nothing in this pack is a reconstruction of a famous name.

The number in Purple Urkle 103 is a specific plant, not a decoration. Humboldt CSI grow a population out, keep the individuals worth keeping and number them, so Purple Urkle 103 is one identified selection rather than Purple Urkle in general. A pack naming a different number is a different mother.

Purple Urkle sits on the seed side here, Granddaddy Purple on the pollen side. If you have seen these two names paired the other way round, that is a different pack and not this one.

• Father: Granddaddy Purple. The other California purple benchmark. Given as contested - its breeder gives Mendo Purps, Skunk and Afghan, while many sources give Purple Urkle x Big Bud. The lineage argument is the interesting part: the breeder's own account gives Mendo Purps, Skunk and Afghan, while most third-party listings give Purple Urkle crossed to Big Bud. Those are different plants and no source reconciles them.
• The point of the pairing. Neither parent needed rescuing. Putting them together is about what sits between them, not about fixing either one.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

• The Aroma. Sweet grape and dark berry over earthy skunk, myrcene-dominant from the Purple Urkle side, against grape and berry over earth from the Granddaddy Purple side.
• The Taste. Grape and berry turning earthy and musky up front, turning to sweet grape with a berry finish through the exhale.

• Two different harvest dates. Around eight weeks indoors, inside a seven to nine week window for Purple Urkle, around eight weeks for Granddaddy Purple. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
• Two noses, one pack. Purple Urkle contributes sweet grape and dark berry over earthy skunk, myrcene-dominant. Granddaddy Purple contributes sweet, fruity and floral over an earthy base. Which dominates is the main thing that varies.
• Build. On the Purple Urkle side: compact and indica-built; deep purple colour hardest where night temperatures drop late. On the Granddaddy Purple side: indica-built, heavy colour. Select early rather than trying to train your way out of it.
• They pull differently. Growers put Purple Urkle at settled and unhurried; the heavy, physical end and Granddaddy Purple at settled and heavy. Which end a plant lands on is the main variable.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. Purple Urkle is compact and indica-built; deep purple colour hardest where night temperatures drop late. Granddaddy Purple is dense and heavily coloured, indica in build.
• Vegetative Phase and Stretch. Shape the plant before the flip. Correcting a frame in week six is harder work than setting it in week two.
