Headlights (NL5 Haze × Headband) crosses Panama Red to Loompa's Headband, the tropical Panamanian sativa that made its name in the late sixties against the Loompa Farms selection, also called Underdawg OG. Neither is a filler parent, which is why this pairing is worth a pack rather than a look. Headband is the constant across this catalogue and it is where the fuel and the pressure behind the eyes come from.

Order matters in a cross name. In Headlights (NL5 Haze × Headband) the Panama Red side supplied the seed and Loompa's Headband the pollen, and the reciprocal - the same two plants the other way round - is a separate breeding decision with its own results.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Panama Red. The tropical Panamanian sativa that made its name in the late sixties. Parentage: a Panamanian landrace. For a stretch of the late sixties and seventies it was simply what the best weed meant, and that reputation is the only reason it survived to be preserved at all. It is worth being honest about what growing it involves: this is an equatorial plant that has never been bred for a tent. It wants the long finish, it stretches, and it will not behave like a modern hybrid. What it gives back is an effect the modern catalogue does not really make any more.
• Father: Loompa's Headband. The Loompa Farms selection, also called Underdawg OG. Its own cross is OG Kush x Sour Diesel, roughly sixty-forty indica.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

• The Aroma. Earth and citrus, with alpha-humulene and limonene leading from the Panama Red side, against earth, pine and citrus with a little fuel under it, and a spiced lemon-diesel thread running the length of it from the Loompa's Headband side.
