Mendo Jilly (Mendo Purps x Jilly Bean) feminized is Mendo Purps crossed to Jilly Bean. Mendo Purps is Mendo Purps - the source stock Purple Urkle was selected out of. Jilly Bean is MzJill's flagship and a High Times Seed Bank Hall of Fame plant. Between them they cover ground neither reaches alone. That continuity is the point. These are not newly assembled lines - they are twenty years of the same held stock, crossed forward.

These are feminized. Every seed should come up female, so there are no males to find and pull and nothing to lose half a tent to. That is the pack to buy if you want a crop out of it rather than a breeding project.

Mendo Purps sits on the seed side here, Jilly Bean on the pollen side. If you have seen these two names paired the other way round, that is a different pack and not this one.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Mendo Purps. The Northern California indica that gave the purple lines their colour. The purple lines people can name mostly run back through it. Its own origin is a story rather than a pedigree - the usual account has it grown from the bagseed of a purple Afghani kept since 1977 and not planted until 1998, and no source gives a clean lineage for it. It circulated clone-only at first; BC Bud Depot later stabilised seed of it, and it took High Times Strain of the Year in 2007. It is not a heavy yielder and was never grown for that.

• Why it is worth a pack rather than a look. The two sides are far enough apart that seedlings genuinely differ. That range is the product.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

The nose is where these two argue hardest.

• The Aroma. Fruity and grape-like with deep colouration from the Mendo Purps side, against orange and mango, sweet and bright from the Jilly Bean side.
• The Taste. Grape first, then a deeper berry note up front, turning to citrus and tropical fruit with a creamy finish through the exhale.

• They are not on the same clock. Mendo Purps runs eight to nine weeks, with outdoor crops coming down in the middle of October; Jilly Bean runs eight to nine weeks. Across a pack that gap shows up as plants finishing days or weeks apart.
• Where the nose comes from. One side gives fruity and grape-like with deep colouration; the other gives orange and mango, sweet and bright. Plants landing in the middle are the keepers.
• Structure varies hard here. Cultivation and Growth Traits

Mendo Purps is small by modern standards and slightly indica-leaning; it needs stress training and a trim to give a worthwhile yield, which is why it is not recommended to first-time growers. Jilly Bean is medium-height plants with orange pistils threaded through dense flower.
• Training. Worth the effort early - it is the difference between an even canopy and three colas and a lot of leaf.
• Flowering Time. The parents are not on the same clock. Mendo Purps runs eight to nine weeks, with outdoor crops coming down in the middle of October, Jilly Bean eight to nine weeks. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
