There is only one plant in Mendo purps s1 x Bubblegum. Mendo Purps (the Mendocino purple that the whole Northern California purple catalogue leans on) was reversed and pollinated with itself, which is how a cut that never made seed on its own ends up in a packet. It carries fruity and grape-like with deep colouration. Expect variations on that one plant, not a new hybrid.

Mendo Purps sits on the seed side here, Indiana Bubblegum on the pollen side. If you have seen these two names paired the other way round, that is a different pack and not this one.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother and Father: Mendo Purps, selfed. The Northern California indica that gave the purple lines their colour. The purple lines people can name mostly run back through it. Its own origin is a story rather than a pedigree - the usual account has it grown from the bagseed of a purple Afghani kept since 1977 and not planted until 1998, and no source gives a clean lineage for it. It circulated clone-only at first; BC Bud Depot later stabilised seed of it, and it took High Times Strain of the Year in 2007. It is not a heavy yielder and was never grown for that.
• Parent 2: Indiana Bubblegum, selfed. The original Indiana bubblegum plant, and the standard every later candy strain is measured against. Wants a moderate level of experience.
• Why it exists as seed at all. Clone-only cuts travel as cuttings, which means they survive only as long as somebody keeps them alive. Reversing one onto itself is how a plant like this stops depending on a single grower's luck.
• Reading a pack of a self. There is no second parent introducing anything new. Selfing surfaces traits the clone carries quietly, so expect range rather than uniformity, and that spread is the point.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

The two halves stack rather than blend, which is the whole reason to run it.

• The Aroma. Dark grape with the colour to match from the Mendo Purps side, against pink bubblegum first, then cotton candy, strawberry taffy and vanilla cream, with ripe berry and a faint hash note from the Indiana Bubblegum side.
• The Taste. Grape with dark berry under it up front, turning to cotton candy and ripe berry with a creamy finish through the exhale.

What each side brings

• Two different harvest dates. Eight to nine weeks, with outdoor crops coming down in the middle of october for Mendo Purps, seven to eight weeks, some reporting sixty to sixty-five days for Indiana Bubblegum. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
• The smell is a negotiation. Fruity and grape-like with deep colouration on one side against pink bubblegum first, then cotton candy, strawberry taffy and vanilla cream, with ripe berry and a faint hash note on the other. Neither wins outright in every seedling.
• Build. On the Mendo Purps side: slightly indica-dominant and not a big plant - three to four feet indoors, six to eight outdoors. It is not a beginner's plant: it wants training and trimming to yield properly. On the Indiana Bubblegum side: medium-tall on a slender, sparse frame; roughly doubles in height after the flip; heavy trichome coverage on dense buds. Select early rather than trying to train your way out of it.
• Opposite ends. Mendo Purps is reported as settled rather than racy; Indiana Bubblegum as softer and more relaxed. The cross sits somewhere between and moves plant to plant.
