Mendo Purps x BlackBerry Widow F3 is Mendo Purps crossed to Blackberry Widow. Mendo Purps is Mendo Purps - the source stock Purple Urkle was selected out of. Blackberry Widow is Blackberry Widow - Jojorizo's cross of a '98 White Widow to Nebu's Blackberry. Between them they cover ground neither reaches alone. These are held cuts, not recreations. CSI's entire catalogue works that way, and it is the reason their crosses are worth chasing.

Mendo Purps sits on the seed side here, Blackberry Widow on the pollen side. If you have seen these two names paired the other way round, that is a different pack and not this one.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Mendo Purps. The Mendocino County purple that came out of Northern California in the late nineties. The purple lines people can name mostly run back through it. Its own origin is a story rather than a pedigree - the usual account has it grown from the bagseed of a purple Afghani kept since 1977 and not planted until 1998, and no source gives a clean lineage for it. It circulated clone-only at first; BC Bud Depot later stabilised seed of it, and it took High Times Strain of the Year in 2007. It is not a heavy yielder and was never grown for that.
• Father: Blackberry Widow. A rare hybrid built from a 1998 White Widow phenotype and Nebu's Blackberry. It traces back to given as '98 Aloha White Widow crossed to Nebu's Blackberry, which itself carries The Black and Afghani. It is credited to the breeder Jojorizo, and it is clone-only - which is why it turns up in other people's crosses far more often than it turns up for sale.
• Why it is worth a pack rather than a look. The two sides are far enough apart that seedlings genuinely differ. That range is the product.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Expect the profile to move plant to plant rather than settle.

• The Aroma. Dark grape with the colour to match from the Mendo Purps side, against dark berry over the Widow's resinous base from the Blackberry Widow side.
• The Taste. Grape with dark berry under it up front, turning to blackberry with an earthy finish through the exhale.

Where the parents disagree

• What to budget. The documented side, Mendo Purps, runs eight to nine weeks, with outdoor crops coming down in the middle of October. Set the room to that and let the plants correct you.
• The smell is a negotiation. Fruity and grape-like with deep colouration on one side against dark berry over the Widow's resinous base on the other. Neither wins outright in every seedling.
• Structure varies hard here. Slightly indica-dominant and not a big plant - three to four feet indoors, six to eight outdoors. it is not a beginner's plant: it wants training and trimming to yield properly from one parent; slightly indica-dominant, usually put at sixty forty from the other. Plan the canopy for the taller outcome.
• They pull differently. Growers put Mendo Purps at settled rather than racy and Blackberry Widow at indica-leaning without being flat. Which end a plant lands on is the main variable.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. Mendo Purps is small by modern standards and slightly indica-leaning; it needs stress training and a trim to give a worthwhile yield, which is why it is not recommended to first-time growers. Blackberry Widow is slightly indica-dominant, usually put at sixty forty.
• Vegetative Phase and Stretch. Shape the plant before the flip. Correcting a frame in week six is harder work than setting it in week two.
• Flowering Time. Mendo Purps runs eight to nine weeks, with outdoor crops coming down in the middle of October. Start checking trichomes a week before you expect to be ready.

• The Mind. Growers describe Mendo Purps as settled rather than racy.
• The Body. Blackberry Widow is reported as indica-leaning without being flat, and that is the side supplying the weight here.
