Mendo Purps S1 x Plum Crazy Runtz is the Mendo Purps cut selfed onto itself, so both halves of every seed come from that one plant. Mendo Purps is Mendo Purps - the source stock Purple Urkle was selected out of, and a self is the only way a clone-only cut like it has ever reached a seed packet. It carries fruity and grape-like with deep colouration. What you are buying is a look inside one plant rather than a blend of two.

Order matters in a cross name. In Mendo Purps S1 x Plum Crazy Runtz the Mendo Purps side supplied the seed and Runtz the pollen, and the reciprocal - the same two plants the other way round - is a separate breeding decision with its own results.

• Mother and Father: Mendo Purps, selfed. Mendo Purps - the source stock Purple Urkle was selected out of. The purple lines people can name mostly run back through it. Its own origin is a story rather than a pedigree - the usual account has it grown from the bagseed of a purple Afghani kept since 1977 and not planted until 1998, and no source gives a clean lineage for it. It circulated clone-only at first; BC Bud Depot later stabilised seed of it, and it took High Times Strain of the Year in 2007. It is not a heavy yielder and was never grown for that.
• Parent 2: Runtz, selfed. The candy plant the whole modern sweet-flavour category was built on. Parentage: Zkittlez x Gelato #33. Rated intermediate and sensitive to humidity swings and temperature stress - keep the room steady.
• What a reversal is for. It puts a clone-only plant into seed without introducing anything foreign. That is preservation work rather than breeding, and it is most of what Cedar Berry Farms actually do.
• Reading a pack of a self. There is no second parent introducing anything new. Selfing surfaces traits the clone carries quietly, so expect range rather than uniformity, and that spread is the point.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Expect the profile to move plant to plant rather than settle.

• The Aroma. Fruity and grape-like with deep colouration from the Mendo Purps side, against sweet fruit and sour berry on vanilla cream, ending peppery and gassy from the Runtz side.
• The Taste. Grape with dark berry under it up front, turning to candy and berry with a creamy finish and a faint fuel edge through the exhale.

• Two different harvest dates. Eight to nine weeks, with outdoor crops coming down in the middle of october for Mendo Purps, eight to nine weeks, with fast plants at fifty-five to sixty days for Runtz. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
• The smell is a negotiation. Fruity and grape-like with deep colouration on one side against sugary fruit and sour berry over creamy vanilla, closing on a peppery gas note on the other. Neither wins outright in every seedling.
• Build. On the Mendo Purps side: slightly indica-dominant and not a big plant - three to four feet indoors, six to eight outdoors. It is not a beginner's plant: it wants training and trimming to yield properly. On the Runtz side: manageable medium height with sturdy lateral branching; dense buds under a serious frost, deep greens and purples. Select early rather than trying to train your way out of it.
• Opposite ends. Mendo Purps is reported as settled rather than racy; Runtz as balanced and even. The cross sits somewhere between and moves plant to plant.
