Both parents here are cuts CSI keep in their own room. That is the whole difference between this and a seed line named after the same strains.

Northern Lites carries a 5000 because selections get numbered to stay distinguishable once they leave the room they were made in. It marks this exact mother, and it is the part of the name worth reading closely. 5 identifies the d northern lites used here. Numbered cuts come out of a population that was grown and sorted, and the number rides with the plant that was kept. Two crosses that both say d northern lites are only the same cross if the number matches too.

Order matters in a cross name. In Northern Lites 5000 (T-1000 x Northern Lites 5) the T-1000 side supplied the seed and Northern Lights #5 the pollen, and the reciprocal - the same two plants the other way round - is a separate breeding decision with its own results.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: T-1000. An Old Family Purple selection named by CSI Portland, built on Triangle Kush and Purple Urkle. Its own cross is a selection from Old Family Purple, which is Triangle Kush x Purple Urkle. Appreciates steady feeding rather than a boom-and-bust schedule.
• Father: Northern Lights #5. The plant most of the indoor era was quietly built on. Also listed as CI #5 F1; density this high is what mould looks for.
• Why these two. They are not variations on the same idea. They pull in different directions, and that spread is what makes a pack worth hunting through rather than just growing.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

The two halves stack rather than blend, which is the whole reason to run it.

• The Aroma. Grape and cream up top, pine and a diesel edge underneath, earthy at the base from the T-1000 side, against sweet, earthy and resinous rather than fruity or chemical from the Northern Lights #5 side.
• The Taste. Grape and cream turning piney and faintly dieselly, finishing earthy up front, turning to sweet earth carrying resin all the way through through the exhale.

How the two sides differ

• Two different harvest dates. Roughly fifty-six to seventy days, with many growers looking at week nine for T-1000, seven to eight weeks indoors for Northern Lights #5. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
• The smell is a negotiation. Juicy grape and sweet cream over pine needles and skunky diesel, with musky earth and a touch of spice on one side against sweet, earthy and resinous rather than fruity or chemical on the other. Neither wins outright in every seedling.
• Two frames in one pack. T-1000 is indica-leaning at roughly seventy-thirty, medium height, stacking dense spear-shaped resinous colas. Northern Lights #5 is dense buds running golf-ball to soda-can size with calyxes stacking so tightly the nugs feel heavy for their size; minimal leaf to flower; heavily encrusted with milky trichomes by weeks six to eight. Decide which suits your room before you flip, because you get both.
• Opposite ends. T-1000 is reported as calm rather than busy; body-heavy and relaxing; Northern Lights #5 as settled and unhurried; heavy and physical. The cross sits somewhere between and moves plant to plant.
