Nuclear Power (GMO x Blue Power IX2) brings GMO together with Blue Power IX2. The first is GMO, also sold as Garlic Cookies - the savoury end of the Chem family; the second, Blue Power after another decade of selection. Two lines that were never going to produce a quiet plant. One side of this is a plant Sin City have tested to exhaustion; the other is what they wanted to see it do. That is how the whole catalogue is built.
GMO sits on the seed side here, Blue Power IX2 on the pollen side. If you have seen these two names paired the other way round, that is a different pack and not this one.
Genetic Lineage
- Mother: GMO. Garlic Cookies - Chemdog put over the Forum Cookies cut. Given as given as Chemdog, often the Chem D cut, crossed to Girl Scout Cookies Forum cut. Credited to Mamiko Seeds, though a breeder called skunkmasterflex is also named as having found the pheno. Mamiko called it GMO; dispensaries were wary of putting those three letters on a shelf and relabelled it Garlic Cookies, which is why the same plant has two names.
- Father: Blue Power IX2. Blue Power after another decade of selection. Given as an inbred continuation of Blue Power. IX2 is not a new cross. It is Blue Power inbred and selected over more than a decade and then released feminized, and the point of that work is predictability - the flagship behaving the same way every time rather than throwing the range an F1 does. When Sin City put IX2 on a pack rather than plain Blue Power, they are saying the known half of the cross is now genuinely known.
- The point of the pairing. Neither parent needed rescuing. Putting them together is about what sits between them, not about fixing either one.
Flavor and Aroma Profile
The two halves stack rather than blend, which is the whole reason to run it.
- The Aroma. Savoury rather than sweet - garlic and onion over the Chem fuel, which is where the nickname came from from the GMO side, against the Blue Power nose - sweet kush and sour fuel over creamy blueberry from the Blue Power IX2 side.
- The Taste. Garlic and fuel with the Cookies sweetness well behind it up front, turning to berry and lemon closing earthy, as the original does through the exhale.
How the two sides differ
- What to budget. The documented side, GMO, runs long for an indica - ten to eleven weeks, or seventy to seventy-seven days. Set the room to that and let the plants correct you.
- Two noses, one pack. GMO contributes savoury rather than sweet - garlic and onion over the Chem fuel, which is where the nickname came from. Blue Power IX2 contributes the Blue Power nose - sweet kush and sour fuel over creamy blueberry. Which dominates is the main thing that varies.
- Build. On the GMO side: indica-dominant on paper but it stretches like a sativa through early flower, then stacks dense spear-shaped colas under thick wet resin. On the Blue Power IX2 side: it keeps Blue Power's indica build and its resin, with the variation pulled in by generations of selection. Select early rather than trying to train your way out of it.
- They pull differently. Growers put GMO at heavy and Blue Power IX2 at physical relief without the mood going flat. Which end a plant lands on is the main variable.
Cultivation and Growth Traits
- Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. GMO is indica-dominant on paper but it stretches like a sativa through early flower, then stacks dense spear-shaped colas under thick wet resin. Blue Power IX2 is it keeps Blue Power's indica build and its resin, with the variation pulled in by generations of selection.
- Vegetative Phase and Training. Open the middle out early. Light reaching the lower sites is worth more than any late correction.
- Flowering Time. GMO runs long for an indica - ten to eleven weeks, or seventy to seventy-seven days. Start checking trichomes a week before you expect to be ready.
Effects and Experience
- The Mind. Growers describe GMO as heavy.
- The Body. Blue Power IX2 is reported as physical relief without the mood going flat, and that is the side supplying the weight here.
