Puck x AE77 Cali Orange brings Puck together with California Orange. The first is the Skelly Hashplant, one of the genuinely old clone-only indicas; the second, a 1980s heirloom off 1970s California stock, inbred ever since, and CSI run the AE77 cut of it. Two lines that were never going to produce a quiet plant. Every parent CSI use is a cut they keep alive themselves, so nothing in this pack is a reconstruction of a famous name.

Puck sits on the seed side here, California Orange on the pollen side. If you have seen these two names paired the other way round, that is a different pack and not this one.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Puck. Skelly HP - an old hash plant cut out of the late eighties that has never stopped circulating. Parentage: a selection out of Nevil's Hash Plant, given as Pacific North West Hash Plant crossed to a PNWHP x Northern Lights #1. Heavy greasy trichome coverage is the thing it is actually kept for. It was named around 1989 and has been clone-only ever since, so seed of it exists only where somebody has selfed it. The origin accounts do not fully agree - one traces it to Nevil's Hash Plant out of Holland, another places the selection in Crested Butte, Colorado from a pack of Seed Bank Hash Plant seed.
• Father: California Orange. A 1980s heirloom off 1970s California stock, inbred ever since, and CSI run the AE77 cut of it. Given as a 50/50 hybrid crossed in the 1980s.
• What the cross is reaching for. One side brings the structure and the other brings the nose. The plants worth keeping out of a pack are the ones that hold both rather than picking a side.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

The two halves stack rather than blend, which is the whole reason to run it.

• The Aroma. Thick incense and earth, and growers who know it also report onion, body odour and burning rubber - it is not a polite plant from the Puck side, against ripe orange and mandarin over an earthy base - sweet, penetrating citrus from the California Orange side.
• The Taste. Earthy and hashy, following the nose up front, turning to bright citrus zest with a sweet-earth finish through the exhale.
