• What the cross is reaching for. One side brings the structure and the other brings the nose. The plants worth keeping out of a pack are the ones that hold both rather than picking a side.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Neither parent is subtle, and the cross has nowhere quiet to go.

• The Aroma. Earthy, piney and spicy with strong grape and berry over a pungent base from the Purple Hindu Kush side, against sugary fruit and sour berry over vanilla cream, closing on peppery gas from the Runtz side.
• The Taste. Grape and earth, hashy at the end up front, turning to sweet berry and cream with a whisper of fuel through the exhale.

What each side brings

• Timing splits the pack. One parent wants seven to eight weeks, the other eight to nine weeks, with fast plants at fifty-five to sixty days. Expect the fast plants down well before the slow ones are ready.
• Where the nose comes from. One side gives earthy, piney and spicy with strong grape and berry over a pungent base; the other gives sugary fruit and sour berry over creamy vanilla, closing on a peppery gas note. Plants landing in the middle are the keepers.
• Build. On the Purple Hindu Kush side: dense resinous buds in deep purple with bright orange pistils under a thick trichome coat; colour develops as temperatures drop in flower. On the Runtz side: manageable medium height with sturdy lateral branching; dense buds under a serious frost, deep greens and purples. Select early rather than trying to train your way out of it.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. Purple Hindu Kush is short and broad, a mountain-indica shape that colours hard. Runtz is a manageable plant with strong laterals, carrying dense flower that frosts hard and colours green through purple.
• Vegetative Phase and Stretch. Shape the plant before the flip. Correcting a frame in week six is harder work than setting it in week two.
• Flowering Time. The parents are not on the same clock. Purple Hindu Kush runs seven to eight weeks, Runtz eight to nine weeks, with fast plants at fifty-five to sixty days. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
