Purple Urkle x Runtz brings Purple Urkle together with Runtz. The first is a Mendocino Purps selection pulled out of the Emerald Triangle around 1990; the second, Zkittlez crossed to Gelato #33, and the plant that defined the modern candy category. Two lines that were never going to produce a quiet plant. CSI breed off held clones rather than off seed stock, which is why the parents named on the pack are the actual plants and not their descendants.

Order matters in a cross name. In Purple Urkle x Runtz the Purple Urkle side supplied the seed and Runtz the pollen, and the reciprocal - the same two plants the other way round - is a separate breeding decision with its own results.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Purple Urkle. A Mendocino Purps selection pulled out of the Emerald Triangle around 1990. Dense purple flower in a closed canopy is where mould starts.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

The two halves stack rather than blend, which is the whole reason to run it.

• The Aroma. Grape and berry with a musky, skunky floor under it from the Purple Urkle side, against sweet fruit and sour berry on vanilla cream, ending peppery and gassy from the Runtz side.
• The Taste. Dark fruit up front, musk and earth behind it up front, turning to sweet berry and cream with a whisper of fuel through the exhale.

The two halves, side by side

• They are not on the same clock. Purple Urkle runs around eight weeks indoors, inside a seven to nine week window; Runtz runs eight to nine weeks, with fast plants at fifty-five to sixty days. Across a pack that gap shows up as plants finishing days or weeks apart.
• The smell is a negotiation. Sweet grape and dark berry over earthy skunk, myrcene-dominant on one side against sugary fruit and sour berry over creamy vanilla, closing on a peppery gas note on the other. Neither wins outright in every seedling.
• Two frames in one pack. Purple Urkle is compact and indica-built; deep purple colour hardest where night temperatures drop late. Runtz is manageable medium height with sturdy lateral branching; dense buds under a serious frost, deep greens and purples. Decide which suits your room before you flip, because you get both.
• Opposite ends. Purple Urkle is reported as settled and unhurried; the heavy, physical end; Runtz as balanced and even. The cross sits somewhere between and moves plant to plant.
