Purple Afghani x Purple Indica crosses Purple Hindu Kush to Purple Indica, a fast, deeply coloured indica out of the Hindu Kush line against an heirloom of Pacific Northwest fame going back to the early-to-mid 1980s. Neither is a filler parent, which is why this pairing is worth a pack rather than a look. Every parent CSI use is a cut they keep alive themselves, so nothing in this pack is a reconstruction of a famous name.

Purple Hindu Kush sits on the seed side here, Purple Indica on the pollen side. If you have seen these two names paired the other way round, that is a different pack and not this one.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Purple Hindu Kush. A fast, deeply coloured indica out of the Hindu Kush line. Its own cross is Hindu Kush x Purple Afghani.
• Father: Purple Indica. An heirloom of Pacific Northwest fame going back to the early-to-mid 1980s. The purple is in the plant rather than in the weather - the leaves come in dark without needing a cold snap to bring the colour out, which is not true of most purple lines.
• What to expect across a pack. Two distinct parents means real variation in frame, finish and nose. Select early and take cuttings off anything you would want again.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Neither parent is subtle, and the cross has nowhere quiet to go.

• The Aroma. Earthy, piney and spicy with strong grape and berry over a pungent base from the Purple Hindu Kush side, against sweet and earthy with pine and berry from the Purple Indica side.
• The Taste. Grape and berry with earth and spice behind it up front, turning to floral, dark Concord grape through the exhale.

How the two sides differ

• Two different harvest dates. Seven to eight weeks for Purple Hindu Kush, fifty-six to sixty-three days for Purple Indica. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
• The smell is a negotiation. Earthy, piney and spicy with strong grape and berry over a pungent base on one side against sweet and earthy with pine and berry on the other. Neither wins outright in every seedling.
• Structure varies hard here. Dense resinous buds in deep purple with bright orange pistils under a thick trichome coat; colour develops as temperatures drop in flower from one parent; indica by build, indoors or outdoors; naturally dark purple leaves rather than colour that only arrives in the cold from the other. Plan the canopy for the taller outcome.
• Opposite ends. Purple Hindu Kush is reported as indica and settling; Purple Indica as settled and unhurried; physical and relaxing. The cross sits somewhere between and moves plant to plant.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. Purple Hindu Kush is short and broad, a mountain-indica shape that colours hard. Purple Indica is indica-framed and compact.
• Vegetative Phase and Training. Open the middle out early. Light reaching the lower sites is worth more than any late correction.
• Flowering Time. The parents are not on the same clock. Purple Hindu Kush runs seven to eight weeks, Purple Indica fifty-six to sixty-three days. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
