And Lemon Tree, a Santa Cruz cross of Lemon Skunk and Sour Diesel, and the benchmark most lemon lines answer to. Humboldt CSI work almost entirely from clones they hold themselves, so both sides of this are the real thing rather than a seed-line approximation of it.

Written this way, Sunset Sherbet is the mother and Lemon Tree the pollen donor. Reversing a cross is not a formality; which plant carries the seed shapes what comes out of the pack.

• Father: Lemon Tree. Lemon Skunk over Sour Diesel, selected out of a large hunt in the Santa Cruz mountains. It traces back to Lemon Skunk x Sour Diesel.
• Why these two. They are not variations on the same idea. They pull in different directions, and that spread is what makes a pack worth hunting through rather than just growing.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Neither parent is subtle, and the cross has nowhere quiet to go.

• The Aroma. Berry and tart citrus over creamy dough with a skunky edge and an earthy fuel base from the Sunset Sherbet side, against sharp lemon and citrus over a fuel base from the Lemon Tree side.
• The Taste. Berry and citrus over creamy dough, finishing earthy up front, turning to zesty and sour turning heavier and more diesel-driven through the exhale.

What each side brings

• Timing splits the pack. One parent wants eight to nine weeks, reported forty-nine to sixty-three days, the other eight to ten weeks. Expect the fast plants down well before the slow ones are ready.
• The smell is a negotiation. Sweet berries and creamy dough with tart citrus, a skunky edge and a subtle earthy fuel undertone on one side against sharp lemon and citrus over a fuel base on the other. Neither wins outright in every seedling.
