There are two very different things inside Shock Collar (Chem 91 x Kentucky Bluegrass). Chem 91, the SKVA cut - the original Chemdog '91 and the clone the family takes its name from. And Kentucky Bluegrass, a Kentucky heirloom cut, and the father behind every Souvenir Seed Co release. Reproducing an heirloom cut in seed is preservation work: the clone stops depending on whoever is currently keeping it alive.

The number in Chem 91 is a specific plant, not a decoration. Souvenir Seed Co grow a population out, keep the individuals worth keeping and number them, so Chem 91 is one identified selection rather than Chem in general. A pack naming a different number is a different mother.

Order matters in a cross name. In Shock Collar (Chem 91 x Kentucky Bluegrass) the Chem 91 side supplied the seed and Kentucky Bluegrass the pollen, and the reciprocal - the same two plants the other way round - is a separate breeding decision with its own results.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Chem 91. The SKVA cut, the original Chemdog '91 and the clone the whole Chem family is named after. That one comes from one of thirteen seeds from a bag bought at a Grateful Dead show in 1991. Skunk VA was given a cut in 1995 and has held it since, which is why the line survives.
• Father: Kentucky Bluegrass. A Kentucky heirloom cut, and the father behind every Souvenir Seed Co release. Built from an heirloom clone with no published cross; it sits in the purple family alongside Purple Urkle, Mendo Purps, Lavender and Granddaddy Purple. The cut came through Kentucky Organics, sourced around Raywick, Kentucky from an older grower long established in the local scene. Souvenir Seed Co exist largely to reproduce heirloom material like it, which is why this one plant sits on the father side of their whole catalogue..
• Why these two. They are not variations on the same idea. They pull in different directions, and that spread is what makes a pack worth hunting through rather than just growing.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Two distinct smells, and a pack will give you both plus everything between.

• The Aroma. Pungent turned earth and diesel with pine and citrus sitting behind from the Chem 91 side, against sweet grape and floral musk over damp earth from the Kentucky Bluegrass side.
• The Taste. Greasy and mouth-coating - fuel, then earth and pine, sour at the finish up front, turning to sweet and earthy with a floral finish through the exhale.

• They are not on the same clock. Chem 91 runs sixty-three to seventy days; Kentucky Bluegrass runs eight to nine weeks. Across a pack that gap shows up as plants finishing days or weeks apart.
