Tahoe OG Kush x Cali Orange brings Tahoe OG together with California Orange. The first is the Lake Tahoe OG selection, one of the heavier and more pungent plants in the OG family; the second, a 1980s heirloom off 1970s California stock, inbred ever since, and CSI run the AE77 cut of it. Two lines that were never going to produce a quiet plant. Humboldt CSI work almost entirely from clones they hold themselves, so both sides of this are the real thing rather than a seed-line approximation of it.

Written this way, Tahoe OG is the mother and California Orange the pollen donor. Reversing a cross is not a formality; which plant carries the seed shapes what comes out of the pack.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

The two halves stack rather than blend, which is the whole reason to run it.

• The Aroma. Pungent earth, pine and fuel with lemon peel and pepper behind it from the Tahoe OG side, against ripe orange and mandarin over an earthy base - sweet, penetrating citrus from the California Orange side.
• The Taste. Lemon peel and pine over earth with a fuel edge up front, turning to bright citrus zest with a sweet-earth finish through the exhale.

How the two sides differ

• Two different harvest dates. Around nine to ten weeks for Tahoe OG, around nine weeks for California Orange. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
• Where the nose comes from. One side gives pungent earth, pine and fuel with lemon peel and pepper behind it; the other gives ripe orange and mandarin over an earthy base - sweet, penetrating citrus. Plants landing in the middle are the keepers.
• Opposite ends. Tahoe OG is reported as heavy for an OG; California Orange as bright and even rather than heavy. The cross sits somewhere between and moves plant to plant.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. Compact and very resinous with a good flower-to-leaf ratio; resilient to common pests and disease; easy to grow and among the easiest plants there is to clone.
• Veg and stretch. Set the frame while it is cheap to do. Anything you fix after the flip costs you flower sites.
• Flowering Time. The parents are not on the same clock. Tahoe OG runs around nine to ten weeks, California Orange around nine weeks. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
