Trinity x Purple Indica is Triangle Kush crossed to Purple Indica. Triangle Kush is the Florida clone a lot of people credit with starting the OG line, named for the Jacksonville-Miami-Tampa triangle. Purple Indica is an heirloom of Pacific Northwest fame going back to the early-to-mid 1980s. Between them they cover ground neither reaches alone. CSI breed off held clones rather than off seed stock, which is why the parents named on the pack are the actual plants and not their descendants.

Written this way, Triangle Kush is the mother and Purple Indica the pollen donor. Reversing a cross is not a formality; which plant carries the seed shapes what comes out of the pack.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Triangle Kush. The Florida cut behind a great deal of the OG family. Lighter on the pine and cleaner-fluid terpenes than its reputation suggests, which is why breeders pair it with louder cuts; Humboldt CSI's 5150 is their pick out of a large Triangle Kush S1 population.
• Father: Purple Indica. An heirloom of Pacific Northwest fame going back to the early-to-mid 1980s. The purple is in the plant rather than in the weather - the leaves come in dark without needing a cold snap to bring the colour out, which is not true of most purple lines.
• How to read it. Everything below splits into what one parent gives and what the other does. Plants that take from both are the ones to keep.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

The nose is where these two argue hardest.

• The Aroma. Restrained OG earth and pine rather than the loud cleaner-fluid nose the name implies from the Triangle Kush side, against sweet and earthy with pine and berry from the Purple Indica side.
• The Taste. Earthy pine with OG weight behind it, cleaner at the finish than at the start up front, turning to sweet earth and dark fruit through the exhale.

How the two sides differ

• Timing splits the pack. One parent wants eight to nine weeks, reported sixty-three to seventy-seven days with most growers near seventy, the other fifty-six to sixty-three days. Expect the fast plants down well before the slow ones are ready.
• Two noses, one pack. Triangle Kush contributes classic OG earth and pine, noticeably restrained rather than loud. Purple Indica contributes sweet and earthy with pine and berry. Which dominates is the main thing that varies.
• Build. On the Triangle Kush side: stocky and bushy at moderate indoor height, up to two metres outdoors; vegs vigorously and throws heavy foliage; takes trimming, defoliation and lollipopping well; dense bright green flower under heavy resin. On the Purple Indica side: indica by build, indoors or outdoors; naturally dark purple leaves rather than colour that only arrives in the cold. Select early rather than trying to train your way out of it.
• They pull differently. Growers put Triangle Kush at the potent, focused end of the OG family and Purple Indica at settled and unhurried; physical and relaxing. Which end a plant lands on is the main variable.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. Triangle Kush is leafy and vigorous, filling a tent quickly and taking hard training in return for dense greasy flower. Purple Indica is indica-framed and compact.
• Training. Worth the effort early - it is the difference between an even canopy and three colas and a lot of leaf.
• Flowering Time. The parents are not on the same clock. Triangle Kush runs eight to nine weeks, reported sixty-three to seventy-seven days with most growers near seventy, Purple Indica fifty-six to sixty-three days. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.

• The Mind. Growers describe Triangle Kush as the potent, focused end of the OG family.
