There are two very different things inside Trinity x AE77 Cali Orange. Triangle Kush, the Florida clone often credited with giving OG Kush its origin, named for the triangle of Jacksonville, Miami and Tampa. And California Orange, the AE77 cut of a California heirloom that has been inbred since the early eighties. Humboldt CSI work almost entirely from clones they hold themselves, so both sides of this are the real thing rather than a seed-line approximation of it.

Written this way, Triangle Kush is the mother and California Orange the pollen donor. Reversing a cross is not a formality; which plant carries the seed shapes what comes out of the pack.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Triangle Kush. The Florida cut that sits at the root of the OG family and has fathered more of the modern index than almost anything else. Lighter on the pine and cleaner-fluid terpenes than its reputation suggests, which is why breeders pair it with louder cuts; Humboldt CSI's 5150 is their pick out of a large Triangle Kush S1 population.
• Father: California Orange. A 1980s heirloom off 1970s California stock, inbred ever since, and CSI run the AE77 cut of it. Its own cross is a 50/50 hybrid crossed in the 1980s.
• Why these two. They are not variations on the same idea. They pull in different directions, and that spread is what makes a pack worth hunting through rather than just growing.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Two distinct smells, and a pack will give you both plus everything between.

• The Aroma. Quiet for an OG - earth and a light pine backbone instead of anything sharp from the Triangle Kush side, against ripe orange and mandarin over an earthy base - sweet, penetrating citrus from the California Orange side.
• The Taste. Earthy pine with weight, finishing clean up front, turning to bright citrus zest with a sweet-earth finish through the exhale.

Where the parents disagree

• Timing splits the pack. One parent wants eight to nine weeks, reported sixty-three to seventy-seven days with most growers near seventy, the other around nine weeks. Expect the fast plants down well before the slow ones are ready.
• Two noses, one pack. Triangle Kush contributes classic OG earth and pine, noticeably restrained rather than loud. California Orange contributes ripe orange and mandarin over an earthy base - sweet, penetrating citrus. Which dominates is the main thing that varies.
• Build. On the Triangle Kush side: stocky and bushy at moderate indoor height, up to two metres outdoors; vegs vigorously and throws heavy foliage; takes trimming, defoliation and lollipopping well; dense bright green flower under heavy resin. On the California Orange side: compact and very resinous with a good flower-to-leaf ratio; resilient to common pests and disease; easy to grow and among the easiest plants there is to clone. Select early rather than trying to train your way out of it.
• They pull differently. Growers put Triangle Kush at the potent, focused end of the OG family and California Orange at bright and even rather than heavy. Which end a plant lands on is the main variable.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. Triangle Kush is stocky and bushy at moderate indoor height, up to two metres outdoors; vegs vigorously and throws heavy foliage; takes trimming, defoliation and lollipopping well; dense bright green flower under heavy resin. California Orange is compact and very resinous with a good flower-to-leaf ratio; resilient to common pests and disease; easy to grow and among the easiest plants there is to clone.
• Veg and stretch. Set the frame while it is cheap to do. Anything you fix after the flip costs you flower sites.
• Flowering Time. The parents are not on the same clock. Triangle Kush runs eight to nine weeks, reported sixty-three to seventy-seven days with most growers near seventy, California Orange around nine weeks. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
