  • Giesel x Pure OG Kush – Humboldt CSI

Giesel x Pure OG Kush is Giesel crossed to Pure OG Kush. Giesel is the Massachusetts heirloom CSI describe as often imitated and never duplicated. Pure OG Kush is the first OG Kush clone CSI ever held, most likely an early OG Kush S1 from the late 1990s or the start of the 2000s. Between them they cover ground neither reaches alone. These are held cuts, not recreations. CSI's entire catalogue works that way, and it is the reason their crosses are worth chasing.

Giesel sits on the seed side here, Pure OG Kush on the pollen side. If you have seen these two names paired the other way round, that is a different pack and not this one.

Genetic Lineage

  • Mother: Giesel. The Massachusetts heirloom CSI describe as often imitated and never duplicated. Built from Chem D over a Massachusetts Super Skunk line.
  • Father: Pure OG Kush. The first OG Kush clone CSI ever held, most likely an early OG Kush S1 from the late 1990s or the start of the 2000s. CSI put its willingness to hybridize down to that S1 background.
  • What the cross is reaching for. One side brings the structure and the other brings the nose. The plants worth keeping out of a pack are the ones that hold both rather than picking a side.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Two profiles that stay distinguishable rather than collapsing into one.

  • The Aroma. Sharp chemical fuel over black pepper and skunky earth with a bright lemon-lime edge, and a buttery skunk note that is savoury rather than roadkill from the Giesel side, against the classic OG signature - earth and pine with a fuel edge from the Pure OG Kush side.
  • The Taste. Clean chem-fuel bite then peppered citrus and sweet earth, mouth-coating up front, turning to earthy and piney with OG weight, finishing sharper than it starts through the exhale.

What each side brings

  • The smell is a negotiation. Sharp chemical fuel over black pepper and skunky earth with a bright lemon-lime edge, and a buttery skunk note that is savoury rather than roadkill on one side against the classic OG signature - earth and pine with a fuel edge on the other. Neither wins outright in every seedling.
  • Two frames in one pack. Giesel is can run very lanky but also throws short, squat offspring depending on expression; stretch 1.5 to 2 times over the first three weeks; semi-upright with big swollen bracts on spear-shaped colas; responds well to topping and wants airflow. Pure OG Kush is OG-type plants open out rather than fill in. Decide which suits your room before you flip, because you get both.
  • They pull differently. Growers put Giesel at balanced and Pure OG Kush at potent and focused; settling and physical. Which end a plant lands on is the main variable.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

  • Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range.
  • Vegetative Phase. Top or train before you flip rather than chasing the canopy afterwards.

Effects and Experience

  • The Mind. Growers describe Giesel as balanced.
  • The Body. Pure OG Kush is reported as potent and focused; settling and physical, and that is the side supplying the weight here.

In the pack

Feminized seeds from Humboldt CSI. CSI work from clone stock they have kept for years and reverse it into seed, so what arrives in a pack is the real cut's genetics rather than a seed-line approximation of it. Humboldt CSI original genetics.
