The Grand Illusion (GrandDaddy Purple x Space Queen) crosses Granddaddy Purple to Space Queen, the other California purple benchmark against a BC cross of Romulan to Cinderella 99, and one of the classic balanced hybrids. Neither is a filler parent, which is why this pairing is worth a pack rather than a look. These are held cuts, not recreations. CSI's entire catalogue works that way, and it is the reason their crosses are worth chasing.

Written this way, Granddaddy Purple is the mother and Space Queen the pollen donor. Reversing a cross is not a formality; which plant carries the seed shapes what comes out of the pack.

Genetic Lineage

• Mother: Granddaddy Purple. The other California purple benchmark. That one comes from contested - its breeder gives Mendo Purps, Skunk and Afghan, while many sources give Purple Urkle x Big Bud. The lineage argument is the interesting part: the breeder's own account gives Mendo Purps, Skunk and Afghan, while most third-party listings give Purple Urkle crossed to Big Bud. Those are different plants and no source reconciles them.
• Father: Space Queen. Vic High's Romulan crossed to Cinderella 99. It traces back to given as Romulan x Cinderella 99. Cinderella 99 brings the tropical terpinolene lift and the fast finish; Romulan brings the resin, the heavier calyx and the body weight. Bred by Vic High of the BC Growers Association and later popularised by Subcool.
• The point of the pairing. Neither parent needed rescuing. Putting them together is about what sits between them, not about fixing either one.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

Expect the profile to move plant to plant rather than settle.

• The Aroma. Sweet, fruity and floral over an earthy base from the Granddaddy Purple side, against tropical fruit off the Cinderella 99 side from the Space Queen side.
