Granddaddy Purple s1 preserves Granddaddy Purple rather than crossing it. The cut (the other California purple benchmark) was reversed onto itself, so both sides of every seed trace to it. It carries sweet, fruity and floral over an earthy base. A clone-only plant has no other way of surviving in seed.

• Mother and Father: Granddaddy Purple, selfed. The other California purple benchmark. Its own cross is contested - its breeder gives Mendo Purps, Skunk and Afghan, while many sources give Purple Urkle x Big Bud. The lineage argument is the interesting part: the breeder's own account gives Mendo Purps, Skunk and Afghan, while most third-party listings give Purple Urkle crossed to Big Bud. Those are different plants and no source reconciles them.
• What a reversal is for. It puts a clone-only plant into seed without introducing anything foreign. That is preservation work rather than breeding, and it is most of what Humboldt CSI actually do.
• Reading a pack of a self. There is no second parent introducing anything new. Selfing surfaces traits the clone carries quietly, so expect range rather than uniformity, and that spread is the point.
