Headband (NOTSO) x Obama Kush crosses Loompa's Headband to Obama Kush, the Loompa Farms selection, also called Underdawg OG against Red Beard's award-winning 2007 selection out of CSI's own Mendocino Purple Kush. Neither is a filler parent, which is why this pairing is worth a pack rather than a look. Both parents here are cuts CSI keep in their own room. That is the whole difference between this and a seed line named after the same strains.
Written this way, Loompa's Headband is the mother and Obama Kush the pollen donor. Reversing a cross is not a formality; which plant carries the seed shapes what comes out of the pack.
Genetic Lineage
- Mother: Loompa's Headband. The Loompa Farms selection, also called Underdawg OG. Given as OG Kush x Sour Diesel, roughly sixty-forty indica.
- Father: Obama Kush. Red Beard's award-winning 2007 selection out of CSI's own Mendocino Purple Kush. Given as a selection of Mendocino Purple Kush, which is Mendocino Purple x Bubba Kush, made by CSI in 2006. Red Beard pulled two keepers from that seed - Obama Kush and George W. Kush; the Obama cut spread through the Pacific Northwest and stayed there.
- Why it is worth a pack rather than a look. The two sides are far enough apart that seedlings genuinely differ. That range is the product.
Flavor and Aroma Profile
The two halves stack rather than blend, which is the whole reason to run it.
- The Aroma. Earthy and piney with citrus, a little fuel underneath, and a spiced lemon-diesel note over the whole thing from the Loompa's Headband side, against coffee and cocoa hash from the Bubba side with grape from the Mendocino Purple from the Obama Kush side.
- The Taste. Lemon and diesel giving way to dank kush and earthy herbs, spiced at the finish up front, turning to spiced earth and dark roast through the exhale.
The two halves, side by side
- What to budget. The documented side, Obama Kush, runs eight to ten weeks. Set the room to that and let the plants correct you.
- Two noses, one pack. Loompa's Headband contributes rich earth with pine and citrus over a hint of fuel, and a spicy lemony diesel note across all of it. Obama Kush contributes coffee and cocoa hash from the Bubba side with grape from the Mendocino Purple. Which dominates is the main thing that varies.
- They pull differently. Growers put Loompa's Headband at focused; real indica weight and Obama Kush at settling. Which end a plant lands on is the main variable.
Cultivation and Growth Traits
- Plant Structure. Indica-leaning and easier to house than most OGs.
- Vegetative Phase and Stretch. Shape the plant before the flip. Correcting a frame in week six is harder work than setting it in week two.
- Flowering Time. Obama Kush runs eight to ten weeks. Start checking trichomes a week before you expect to be ready.
Effects and Experience
- The Mind. Growers describe Loompa's Headband as focused; real indica weight.
- The Body. Obama Kush is reported as settling, and that is the side supplying the weight here.
In the pack
7 feminized seeds per pack. Feminized seeds from Humboldt CSI. Humboldt CSI are preservationists before they are breeders - most of what they release is a clone somebody has kept alive by hand for years, put into seed so it stops depending on one grower staying in the game. That is what you are buying into here. Real Humboldt CSI stock, not a copy.
