Order matters in a cross name. In Uncle Grandpa (Grape Ape x Granddaddy Purple( the Grape Ape side supplied the seed and Granddaddy Purple the pollen, and the reciprocal - the same two plants the other way round - is a separate breeding decision with its own results.

The lineage argument is the interesting part: the breeder's own account gives Mendo Purps, Skunk and Afghan, while most third-party listings give Purple Urkle crossed to Big Bud. Those are different plants and no source reconciles them.
• Why these two. They are not variations on the same idea. They pull in different directions, and that spread is what makes a pack worth hunting through rather than just growing.

Flavor and Aroma Profile

The two halves stack rather than blend, which is the whole reason to run it.

• The Aroma. Grape candy over a musky earth base from the Grape Ape side, against grape and berry over earth from the Granddaddy Purple side.
• The Taste. Sweet grape with an earthy finish up front, turning to sweet grape with a berry finish through the exhale.

• Two different harvest dates. Seven to eight weeks for Grape Ape, around eight weeks for Granddaddy Purple. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
• Where the nose comes from. One side gives grape candy over a musky earth base; the other gives sweet, fruity and floral over an earthy base. Plants landing in the middle are the keepers.
• Build. On the Grape Ape side: squat, broad-leaf plants with tight purple flower. On the Granddaddy Purple side: indica-built, heavy colour. Select early rather than trying to train your way out of it.
• They pull differently. Growers put Grape Ape at heavily indica, physical and settling and Granddaddy Purple at settled and heavy. Which end a plant lands on is the main variable.

Cultivation and Growth Traits

• Plant Structure. The two parents disagree here, so plan for range. Grape Ape is squat, broad-leaf plants with tight purple flower. Granddaddy Purple is dense and heavily coloured, indica in build.
• Vegetative Phase and Training. Open the middle out early. Light reaching the lower sites is worth more than any late correction.
• Flowering Time. The parents are not on the same clock. Grape Ape runs seven to eight weeks, Granddaddy Purple around eight weeks. Judge each plant on trichomes rather than pulling the room together.
